Greenville News: Swamp Rabbit bridge named for Joyner

A pedestrian bridge on the new section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail was dedicated Monday in honor of the late C. Dan Joyner. The bridge is between Faris Road and Pleasantburg Drive. Joyner, a local real estate mogul died after battling a heart problem Jan. 8 at the age of 74. He was selected because of his distinguished community service and leadership and his significant contributions to improving the quality of life in Greenville, according to a news release from the city of Greenville.

Incumbent House District 23 Rep. Chandra Dillard got the crowd fired up when she hopped up on the roof of the dugout along the third base line. “You know in 2008 when I was elected to the state House it was the year of hope and change,” she said. “We have moved forward with hope and change.”
